Alice frowned as she straightened up from her crouch after draining the elk's carcass. Subconsciously, she ran her hands over her clothes, and smoothed down her already perfect hair with her palm. Although she hadn't been a vampire as her family, except Bella of course, she was just as neat with her eating as Edward and Carlisle. A soft twinkling laugh escaped her lips as she thought of her big brother's hunting habits. Emmett was always a mess after hunting, but mainly because he liked to play with his food before eating.
Sniffing the air delicately, Alice couldn't smell anything close by, so she decided to head north. Hopefully she would run in to something a little more exciting than the boring elk. Elk, ew. But this is what you get Alice for missing a hunting trip. She scolded herself, pausing again to smell the air. Last time the family went on a big hunting trip, Alice decided to go shopping instead; after all she didn't feel at all thirsty. But of course she got thirsty before the rest of her family did now, resorting in Alice having to hunt locally, not liking to be too far away from them.
She was close to the werewolf border line when she picked up the scent. A mountain lion! For a fraction of a second, Alice wondered what it was doing this far south, but then decided not to question her good luck. This was more appetizing than the stupid elk around here. Shifting in to a crouch, Alice crept forward. She wasn't far now, and was preparing to pounce, when suddenly the wind change, blowing her own scent toward the mountain lion.
Cursing silently under her breath, she watched as the mountain lion raised its head and bolted, knowing that Alice shouldn't be messed with. Of course it didn't take long for Alice to catch it, though she frowned when she realized the chase made her get some mud on her blouse. This is going in the bin tonight. She decided before straightening up again, and looking around her. Instantly she froze.
In the chase, Alice didn't realize when she crossed the treaty boundary line, and now she was a ten feet in werewolf territory. With her eyes wide with panic, she lightly hopped back over the invisible line with only one bound, before looking behind her in to the trees. She didn't want to be the one to cause the war to start, even if they were on friendlier terms these days. Sniffing, Alice scowled. She thought that there was a fresh trail, but the whole place reeked of werewolf, it was hard to tell. Walking backward slowly, Alice was still looking over the boundary, her now golden eyes narrowed.
